FDA Names Pazdur Top Drug Regulator After Tidmarsh Resigns (1)

The US Food and Drug Administration has named Richard Pazdur as its lead drug regulator, turning to a longtime official to stabilize the agency after a period of turmoil.

Pazdur, a 26-year veteran of the FDA, will be director of the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research, or CDER, according to a statement. Pazdur will continue to serve as head of the FDA’s cancer division until a successor is named.

His appointment comes more than a week after George Tidmarsh resigned from the role after being placed on administrative leave over personal conduct concerns.
