The Department of Energy should thoroughly investigate PFAS contamination at its sites to know its potential liability, according to a Government Accountability Office recommendation.
“The Secretary of Energy should direct all DOE sites that have not completed an initial historical and current use review of PFAS to do so by an established deadline,” said the Government Accountability Office’s (GAO) report released Wednesday.
DOE has surveyed 57 sites, but more than 100 other sites remain to be examined and the DOE has no documented plans to do so, the GAO said.
