Health Panel Advances Bill to Reduce Animal Testing in Drugs

The House Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee approved a bipartisan bill Wednesday by voice vote that would reduce animal testing studies for drugs, and ensure that other methods are developed.

The bill (H.R. 2821), co-sponsored by Reps. Buddy Carter (R-Ga.) and Nanette Barragán (D-Calif.), previously passed the Senate at the end of 2025 and has been championed by animal rights groups as a more ethical approach enabled by new technology.
