Oz to Probe Hospitals’ Child Sex-Trait Modification Activities

The Trump administration is asking hospitals that perform sex-trait modification procedures on children to provide information on how they’re implementing new federal requirements related to the interventions.
Treatment for “gender dysphoria” can include “surgical procedures that attempt to transform an individual’s physical appearance to align with an identity that differs from his or her sex,” or efforts to “alter or remove an individual’s sexual organs or to minimize or destroy their natural biological functions,” said the letter from Mehmet Oz, administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
