Senate GOP Floats Health Plans as Credits Near Expiration (2)

Senate Republicans are putting out their own ideas to lower health care costs as Obamacare enrollees brace for an increase in premium payments next year.

One framework being circulated was crafted by the heads of the Senate health committees to provide federally funded health savings accounts to certain high-deductible Affordable Care Act health plans, according to a document viewed by Bloomberg.

The plan, developed by Sens. Mike Crapo (R-Idaho) and Bill Cassidy (R-La.), would provide these HSAs to people making less than 700% of the federal poverty level. Individuals aged 18 to 49 would receive $1,000 in the account while ...
