Washington is set to temporarily eliminate excise taxes on medical marijuana products under a bill Gov. Jay Inslee (D) signed Thursday.
The bill (HB 1453), first introduced in 2023, offers eligible patients and designated providers an exemption from the 37% cannabis excise tax through June 30, 2029. Washington currently has the highest medical marijuana tax rate in the country.
