Bass Pro Group LLC signed a $4.95 million class settlement with tobacco-using workers who say they’ve wrongly been charged a $2,080 annual penalty to stay on the company’s health plan.
The proposed deal would provide about 5,500 current and former employees with average net payments of more than $580, the workers said in a motion seeking preliminary approval of the settlement. It represents about 35% of the tobacco penalties deducted from their wages between April 2018 and October 2024, they said.
