DeSantis Plans Another Florida Immigration Detention Center

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is going forward with plans to build a second emergency immigration detention center in North Florida, which he’s dubbed “Deportation Depot.”

It comes just over a month after DeSantis opened “Alligator Alcatraz,” a controversial tent and trailer detention facility at an abandoned airfield in the middle of the Everglades.

“The reason for this is not just to house people indefinitely,” DeSantis said at a press conference on Thursday. “We want to process, stage and then return illegal aliens to their home country. That’s the name of the game.”
