DOJ Fraudulent Tax Filing Suit Shuts Down Texas Return Preparer

A Fort Worth, Texas, tax preparation business was permanently shuttered after the Justice Department’s Tax Division sued its owner for fabricating details on his clients’ returns.

Ruben Gonzales didn’t admit liability or guilt, but voluntarily consented on Wednesday to the revocation of his preparer tax identification number and a permanent injunction shutting down his business. Neither Gonzales nor Sin Barreras Income Tax LLC are permitted to act as a federal tax return preparer for anyone other than themselves, an order by the US District Court for the Northern District of Texas said.
