The latest inducement to get undocumented immigrants to leave the US is one that is unlikely to sit well with much of President Donald Trump’s working class MAGA base: a parting gift of $1,000 and a plane ticket home.
But news of this arrangement has been mostly eclipsed by the second part of the self-deportation strategy: The threat, for anyone who fails to self-deport, of being sent to a country with a terrible human rights record.
