- Jim Langston will join the M&A team at Paul Weiss from Cleary
- The firm has hired top dealmakers in recent months
Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison has hired dealmaker Jim Langston to join its mergers and acquisitions practice in New York.
Langston became a partner at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton in 2015 and built a practice focused on public and private M&A transactions, activist defense M&A and corporate governance.
His past clients include Allergan, General Mills, Goldman Sachs, private equity shop Warburg Pincus, Sony, Starbucks, Sysco and T-Mobile among others.
“Jim is among the best M&A lawyers in the country and is an excellent addition to our team,” said Barshay in a statement.
Under corporate department chair Scott Barshay, Paul Weiss has invested in building out its corporate team. Last year, it brought over Eric Wedel from Kirkland & Ellis and former Cravath partner and top Morgan Stanley banker Rob Kindler.
The firm continues its London push and in January hired Dan Schuster-Woldan from Linklaters as head of European public M&A.
