Segway Inc.’s former president failed to notify its parent, Ninebot, that something was wrong in the company as she saw unpaid bills from customers piling up just as sales of its original self-balancing electric scooter began dropping dramatically, an attorney for the company said Monday in a Delaware courtroom.
Judy Cai’s was president from 2018 until her termination in late 2020, after a stint as interim president that began after Ninebot’s acquisition of the company in 2015. Ninebot decided to stop production of Segway’s signature two-wheeled personal transportation device in July 2020.
