Meta Seeks Pause on Insurance Row Over Social Media Lawsuits

Meta Platforms Inc. and its subsidiary Instagram asked a Delaware federal court to pause an insurance coverage dispute over lawsuits alleging harm to adolescents caused by features of social media platforms purportedly defectively designed to maximize screen time.

The underlying litigation is part of a wave of suits, including from schools and state attorneys general, alleging Meta and other platforms got kids hooked on social media.

Meta’s latest move follows weeks of back-and-forth over where the insurance dispute should be litigated.
