US President Donald Trump faced a big problem with the five-week closure of the Strait of Hormuz, which fed his frustration that other members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization left him hanging in his time of need.

The president has assailed the other members of the 32-nation alliance, over and over again, for balking at calls to take action to help reopen the strait. And in his criticisms aimed mainly at Europe, he again raised his desire to see the US take over Greenland.
