Auto Lobbying Groups Unite to Pressure Trump for Tariff Relief

A coalition of leading automotive industry trade groups is calling on the Trump administration to ease off on plans early next month to slap tariffs on imported car parts.

The lobbying groups, which include the Alliance for Automotive Innovation, American Automotive Policy Council, Autos Drive America and National Automobile Dealers Association, appealed to President Donald Trump in a letter that was made public on Tuesday. They warned a planned May 3 levy on foreign-made auto parts could cause US plant shutdowns and job losses.
