Canada Enters Talks to Buy Saab GlobalEye, Spurning US Bids (2)

Canada entered into negotiations to buy Saab AB’s GlobalEye military surveillance planes, rejecting American bids as the northern nation pushes to spend fewer defense dollars in the US.

Prime Minister Mark Carney announced Canada was moving forward with the Swedish firm’s bid for the contract, part of a system that aims to protect the continent’s airspace from hypersonic or cruise missiles. The other contenders were Boeing Co.’s E-7 Wedgetail and L3Harris Technologies Inc.’s Aeris X.
