Chipmakers, Gold Power Emerging-Market Rebound After Fed Jitters

Emerging-market stocks and currencies rebounded on Tuesday as a weaker dollar, easing volatility in precious metals and renewed optimism around Asian technology stocks lifted risk appetite.

The MSCI index tracking emerging-market equities climbed 2.8%, snapping a three-day losing streak. Asian tech shares led the advance, following a strong earnings forecast from Palantir Technologies Inc. Samsung Electronics Co. jumped 11% — its largest gain since 2008 — and SK Hynix Inc. was up under 9%.

South Korea’s benchmark Kospi index touched a fresh record on Tuesday, as a global rush to secure memory chips for artificial intelligence powered the surge.
