The European Union and Chile are set to sign a trade agreement next month, a win for the bloc, which failed to reach an accord with Australia recently and is struggling to conclude deals with other Latin American nations.
European member states agreed on the so-called advanced framework agreement and the interim trade agreement following a meeting of ambassadors Thursday in Brussels, people familiar with the matter said. The signing ceremony is set for Dec. 21, added the people, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the discussions are private.
