European Food Exporters Nervously Watch Washington: Supply Lines

Europe’s agri-food industry is nervously watching for news out of Washington.

US President Donald Trump’s on-again, off-again tariff strategy is sowing confusion for markets and has industries around the world on tenterhooks. In the food world, he told American growers this week that he’ll slap duties on external agricultural products.

“To the Great Farmers of the United States: Get ready to start making a lot of agricultural product to be sold INSIDE of the United States. Tariffs will go on external product on April 2nd. Have fun!” Trump said Monday on social media.

For Europe, that’s prompting analyses on which agricultural sectors could get hit by any levies.
