Garmin, Fitbit Win First Round in Philips Patent Fight at ITC

A U.S. trade judge found there was no violation of Philips patents for wearable devices by Garmin and Fitbit, according to a notice posted on the International Trade Commission’s electronic docket.

  • Garmin and Fitbit products didn’t infringe two Philips patents, and the patent claims are invalid, ITC Judge Dee Lord said
  • The judge’s findings are subject to review by the full commission, which is scheduled to complete the investigation by June
