German Exports Surge Most in 10 Months as US Trade Picks Up

German exports rose by the most in 10 months, adding to fledging signs of recovery in the country’s battered industrial sector.

Shipments abroad climbed 1.4% in September, offsetting prior declines in the third quarter, the nation’s statistics office said on Friday. Economists had predicted a 0.5% gain and none anticipated such a large increase. Imports surged 3.1%, narrowing the trade surplus.
