Innoscience Eyes Relief From Chip Import Ban After Patent Win

Innoscience (Zhuhai) Technology Co. will seek to suspend enforcement of a ban on imports of its next-generation semiconductor devices after an administrative tribunal voided patent claims a US trade agency found it had infringed, a lawyer for the company said.

The Patent Trial and Appeal Board on Tuesday issued a final written decision invalidating claims of Efficient Power Conversion Corp.'s US Patent No. 8,350,294 that the US International Trade Commission in November deemed infringed by Innoscience’s gallium nitride-based, or GaN-based, power semiconductor devices.
