Ireland’s Economy Contracts for First Time in Almost Two Years

Ireland’s economy contracted in the three months through September, a quarter that was dominated by US President Donald Trump’s trade salvos.

Gross domestic product shrank 0.1% in the period, the statistics office said on Tuesday. That’s the first quarterly decline since 2023.

The decline “was driven by a decrease in the multinational dominated sector of industry,” Enda Behan, a statistician in the National Accounts Integration Division, said in a statement.
