The ruling Liberal Democratic Party on Monday is set to make an emergency proposal in the wake of the US tariffs, urging the government to strengthen loan support for companies and boost domestic demand, according to documents seen by Bloomberg.
The draft proposal said that the US tariffs could “fundamentally alter the nature of free and fair economic order,” and emphasized that it was “highly regrettable” that Japan was being hit by additional tariffs despite requests to be exempted.
