Lutnick Says Plan B for Tariffs Could Come Quickly: Supply Lines

The Trump administration sounds intent on keeping tariffs a centerpiece of US economic policy, even as a group of small businesses pleads for relief from import taxes they say are crippling them.

Monday offered a stark reminder of the split between Washington and mom-and-pop companies footing steep tariff bills.

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick indicated that no matter what happens to President Donald Trump’s so-called reciprocal levies in a case pending before the Supreme Court, importers should get used to paying higher duties.
