Ontario Premier Stands by Reagan Ad After Trump Cancels Talks

Ontario Premier Doug Ford appeared to stand by a television ad that angered Donald Trump and prompted the US president to call a halt to trade talks with Canada.

The ad features selected clips from a 1987 address by President Ronald Reagan in which he spoke about the long-term risks of trade wars, while explaining why he had used tariffs as a last resort against Japan. In a late-night social media post, Trump called the ad “FAKE” and said he was terminating negotiations with Canada.
