Annie Brinich expected life with newborn twins in Brooklyn to be expensive. But with inflation already straining her budget, the price hike from tariffs on everything from car seats to sippy cups has her searching for items almost exclusively in the classifieds of her local parent group.

“Probably 100% of the clothing items we now own are secondhand,” said Brinich. “We were either given them or paid only 10 bucks for a big bag.”
