Patent Case Against STMicro Over Sensors to Be Probed at ITC

The U.S. International Trade Commission said it has instituted an investigation based on a patent-infringement complaint closely held Neodron filed against STMicroelectronics and other chip companies over touch-sensing controllers.

  • Dublin-based Neodron claims STM, Cypress Semiconductor and Renesas infringe at least one of four patents related to touch-sensing technology that were originally owned by Microchip and Atmel
  • Neodron is seeking to block imports of microcontrollers made by the companies in China, India and Japan
