Renault to Suspend Electric Zoe Production Over Chip Shortage

French carmaker Renault SA will temporarily halt production of its fully-electric Zoe model due to a shortage of semiconductors and other electronic parts, news agency AFP reported, citing the company and labor officials.

The production of the Zoe at the Flins plant near Paris will be put on hold for three weeks in June and two days in July, according to AFP.

The suspension of production comes against a “general backdrop of crisis in electronic components and semiconductors,” the majority of which are produced in Asia, the agency cited a company representative as saying.
