Canadian trade group The Shake and Shingle Alliance is challenging U.S. duties on their products in filings at the Court of International Trade.
The group claims that cedar shakes and shingles, used by the construction industry in roofing, should not fall within the scope of anti-dumping and countervailing duty orders on Canadian softwood lumber products.
The Commerce Department misinterpreted the duty orders’ requirements for thickness and how covered products are sawed, the group argues. It also says the shakes and shingles fall within an exception in the duty orders for “finished products.”
