S.C. Johnson & Son Inc. is appealing a trade court ruling that maintained 3% tariffs on imports of its Ziploc brand resealable sandwich bags.
The company argued that the bags should be classified under a tariff provision for plastic “household articles.” Because the bags originate in Thailand, this classification would qualify them for duty-free entry into the U.S. under the Generalized System of Preferences.
