Security Concerns Speed Green Transition, Carlyle’s Currie Says

Concerns over security of supply will speed the transition away from fossil fuels, despite opposition from US President Donald Trump.

That’s according to Jeff Currie, chief strategy officer of energy pathways at the Carlyle Group. The drive to decarbonize is increasingly being set not by climate concerns, but by governments seeking to safeguard sources of electricity, he said. In particular, increasing trade tensions will make the transition to renewables look more attractive to fuel importers like China and Europe.
