Taiwan Premier Cho Jung-taisaid trade talks with the US have entered “the crucial closing stages,” indicating the global chip hub is finally nearing a deal with the Trump administration.

Taiwan’s trade negotiators arrived in Washington late last week for discussions with their US counterparts aimed at lowering the 20% tariff imposed on the island, a person familiar with the matter said, asking not to be identified because the information is private.
