Uganda Hopes Trump Will Restore Trade Access Despite LGBTQ Law

Uganda will approach President Donald Trump’s administration to restore preferential trade access that was withdrawn in 2023 when the East African nation passed draconian anti-LGBTQ laws.

“We are going to start engaging with the new administration as soon as possible,” Foreign Affairs Permanent Secretary Vincent Waiswa Bagiire said. “The tone which His Excellency Trump has set is favorable.”
