Arizona Denied Rehearing With Full Court Over State Voting Laws

Arizona was denied an en banc rehearing Monday, foiling its attempt to undo the Ninth Circuit’s prior ruling that its laws requiring stricter proof of citizenship violate various federal laws.

The ruling affirms the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit’s February holding that both House Bills 2492 and 2243 contain provisions violating the National Voter Registration Act, the Civil Rights Act, and a consent decree under League of United Latin Am. Citizens of Ariz. v. Reagan.
