Case: Patents/Obviousness (Fed. Cir.)

The Federal Circuit affirmed the decision of the Patent Trial and Appeal Board affirming an examiner’s rejection of claims of Estech Systems IP LLC’s patent that relates to methods for improving quality of service in voice over internet protocol telephone systems by giving priority to audio information as unpatentable as obvious over prior art. The court said that the board’s claim construction and obviousness conclusions weren’t erroneous.
