The Federal Circuit dismissed in part and vacated in part decisions of the Patent Trial and Appeal Board that claims of MemoryWeb LLC’s patents that relate to methods for organizing and displaying digital imagery are unpatentable, in inter partes reviews by Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. The court determined that MemoryWeb’s appeal is moot because as to some patent claims, it failed to appeal unfavorable patentability determinations in other IPR decisions that are now final, and because the unpatentability of all other patent claims presented in this appeal are affirmed in a companion appeal.
