Entropic, Vantiva Resolve Patent Dispute Over Cable Products

Entropic Communications LLC and Vantiva SA are resolving their patent dispute concerning cable modems and TV set-top boxes after an administrative tribunal invalidated most of the asserted claims.

Entropic and Vantiva told the court they’ve agreed to dismiss the lawsuit, according to a joint stipulation filed Wednesday in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.

Entropic has asserted its patents over the years against several companies including Vantiva, Ubee Interactive Holding Corp., Cox Communications Inc., and Charter Communications Inc. They protect methods for delivering video and broadband internet services over coaxial cable networks.
