Federal prosecutors are looking into the circumstances around the spectacular collapse of auto-parts supplier First Brands Group, according to a person familiar with the matter.

The inquiry by Justice Department attorneys is in early stages, said the person, who asked not to be identified because the review isn’t public. The Financial Times earlier reported the Justice Department probe as being run out of Manhattan US Attorney’s office.
