Ferrara Candy Co. and two cannabis companies settled Ferrara’s lawsuit accusing them of infringing the “Runts” candy trademark by selling “Runtz”-branded weed flower buds, gummies, and vape cartridges.
Ferrara, 3615 Market LLC, and Three Steps Ahead Inc. struck a deal after eight and a half hours of mediation May 18, according to a minute entry docketed Tuesday in the US District Court for the Northern District of California. The settlement comes two months after Judge Rita F. Lin denied Ferrara’s motion for summary judgment.
