Finnish ‘Iron Sky’ Copyright Ruling Sinks Claims Against Valve

A Finnish court’s ruling that a visual effects artist has no copyright interest in a 2012 film on which he worked fatally undercut his claim that Valve Corp. hosted infringing video games.

Trevor Kevin Baylis failed to provide a reason to disregard a 2018 ruling in Finland regarding rights to “Iron Sky,” the US District Court for the Western District of Washington said in a Wednesday order. Competent Finnish courts had jurisdiction and issued a final judgment on the ownership question , negating any need to re-litigate it in the US, the court said.
