Massachusetts’s state auditor asked a court to order leaders of the legislature to comply with her office’s audit of the body under a ballot-measure law approved by voters more than a year ago.
Auditor Diana DiZoglio (D) said in the complaint filed Tuesday with the state Supreme Judicial Court that House Speaker Ronald Mariano and Senate President Karen E. Spilka refused to produce documents her office initiated in January 2025.
“They are breaking the law,” DiZoglio said at a press conference announcing the lawsuit, “and its very clear for everyone to see.”
