Michigan Anti-Abortion Group Updates Request to Undo Amendment

A group led by Right to Life of Michigan has revamped its request for a federal court to invalidate an amendment that added abortion rights to the state constitution.

The Michigan Constitution’s Article I, Section 28, approved by the state’s voters in the 2022 midterm election, created “super-right” to reproductive freedom that violates equal protection rights guaranteed by the US Constitution’s 14th Amendment, the groups said in an amended complaint filed in the US District Court for the Western District of Michigan on Tuesday.
