Poland Pushes for Steps to Curb Surge in Ukraine Steel Imports

Poland is seeking protective measures against an increase in imports of duty-free steel from Ukraine that has put its domestic industry in jeopardy, a government official said.

The administration in Warsaw has been facing calls from local producers to suspend steel imports from Ukraine, which surged by about a half last year and another 27% in the first half of 2025, according to data from HIPH, the Polish steelmakers’ lobby group.
