Tesla Heads to Trial on Construction Worker’s Forced Labor Claim

Tesla Inc. must face a worker’s claim that it violated a federal human trafficking law, but the Elon Musk-led company notched a pretrial win disposing of allegations under a similar California statute.

The worker’s evidence gives rise to an inference that Tesla knew or should have known that a subcontractor was forcing people to work at one of the electric automaker’s factories in violation of the Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act, the US District Court for the Northern District of California said Thursday.
