A Universal Music Group NV unit’s massive copyright suit against French record label Believe SA is paused until at least April for settlement talks, a New York federal court said.
A settlement discussion held Monday between UMG Recordings Inc. and Believe indicated potential for resolution, according to an order to stay the case in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York.
The parties are due to report by April 3 on the status of negotiations over UMG’s claims that Believe owes at least $500 million in infringement damages.
