US Agencies Stress Further Patent Offenses in Samsung Order Bid

The US government emphasized incentives for innovation as it weighed in on a patent holder’s pending bid for a court order blocking Samsung Electronics Co. from infringement after the electronics giant lost a $445.5 million dispute over smartphone technology.

The Justice Department’s antitrust division and the US Patent and Trademark Office didn’t take a position on whether the court should issue the injunction against Samsung that Collision Communications Inc. is seeking.
