The Archdiocese of New York is accusing Chubb Ltd. of seeking to “sow chaos” in global settlement negotiations with alleged sex abuse victims after the insurer included confidential communications in a public filing—which was later sealed after being reported by Bloomberg Law.
The insurer declined the church’s invitation to participate in the global mediation or provide settlement authority, but is now trying to derail any deal that could implicate its policy obligations, the archdiocese said in a Wednesday filing in the New York Supreme Court.
