Employers’ OSHA Injury, Illness Data Now Available to Anyone

Injury and illness reports from nearly 290,000 employers from 2016 through 2018 have been made public by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

OSHA posted the data in response to two federal court Freedom of Information Act decisions that found the Form 300A reports were public records and could be released. The release means than anyone, from unions to competing companies, with access to a computer and understanding of spreadsheets can check an employer’s injury and illness history.

OSHA hasn’t said when numbers for 2019 will be available. Employers were required to file their reports by March 2.
