A California commission is exploring whether the state should enact antitrust laws around artificial intelligence, including embracing tough rules already adopted by the European Union.
Members of the California Law Revision Commission on Thursday discussed its working group report on AI’s influence on anticompetitive behavior and potential guardrails. The panel has been examining unfair competition from the biggest tech companies, but the report was a late inclusion after antitrust advocates criticized the commission’s previous paper on the tech sector for excluding AI.
